If you've wondered why recent concert line-ups seem vaguely familiar, like the 70's never really ended, it's because of performances like the one Joe Walsh ripped through at The Warner Theater on September 23, 2015. Classic rock will never die, and as long as the original artists are still willing and able, we children of the late 60's and early 70's will flock to see our music idols play the sounds we grew up with. Let's face it, there is more than a little truth to the saying, "They don't make 'em like that anymore!"
Joe and the band cranked through all the hits from as far back as 1970 for the James Gang's classic "Funk #49", about which Joe said if he'd known he still have to play this song 45 years later, he would have never wrote it! He also played a few tunes from his most recent (2013) release Analog Man, including the title track. By the time he hit Rocky Mountain Way, the scene was reminiscent of the 1970s with the crowd "rushing" the stage (more like walking fast) and the entire audience joining in singing the ever-present FM smash. At age 68, Mr. Walsh put on amazing showcase if not only his guitar chops, which are still in fine shape, but his unbelievable catalog of hits he's written throughout the years. This was one of the best shows I've seen in years.
