Lyle Lovett brought his Big Band, and then some, to the world-class amphitheater, on yet another rain-forest like evening in Virginia. Lyle filled the large stage with not only himself but an 11 piece band/orchestra. The audience was also treated to the soulful voice of Ms. Francine Reed. And, as if that wasn't enough beautiful sound, Lyle was backed by the Morgan State University Choir as well! Always preferring Lyle with his full ensemble, I was lost in the clean, lyrical, well orchestrated songs, like the quirky "Penguins" and "Record Lady" from one of my favorite Lovett releases, I love Everybody. The audience was also treated to the more up-tempo pieces like the rockin' That's Right (You're Not From Texas). The choir was a perfect compliment. They were obviously having genuine fun singing with Lyle and Ms. Reed, whose vocal presence is undeniable. Lyle Lovett is a true, unique talent, who puts on a sweeping performance, all the while remaining intimate with his audience. He and his big band filled Wolf Trap with happy energy on this night.Type your paragraph here.
