Al Di Meola knows a thing or two about playing the guitar. After decades of living on the cutting edge of Latin jazz-fusion he is still going strong. Al may be most well-known for his work with John McLaughlin, and Paco de Lucía. We caught up to him at The Hamilton in Washington, DC - a top-notch club with a state of the art sound system. Al, along with his long-time percussionist Gumbi Ortiz, new-comer Evan Garr on the violin, and his band put on an inspired 90 minute show that touched on every phase of his long career. In the recent past Al has played mostly acoustic shows, in part, due to his chronic tinnitus, so seeing Al play a full blown electric show these days is a real treat.
