Rock, Roots, & Blues - Live

As interviews go, having the opportunity to interview the legendary Al Di Meola was an amazing experience and is about as good as it gets.

The innovative and masterful guitarist, Al Di Meola, made a relatively rare appearance at the historic sixth & I synagogue in Washington, DC this week on what is being called his final electric tour. On February 26, the small, lucky crowd of about 700 fans were treated to two sets of Al's electric classics as well as several acoustic favorites. At 60, Mr. Di Meola has seemingly only become better, more fluid, and in total command as he orchestrated the band through a powerful show. On stage with Al: Gumbi Ortiz on congas & percussion, Arman Secco on bass, Phillipe Saisse on keyboards and marimba, & Joel Taylor on drums.. A departure from the last few decades of strictly acoustic playing, hearing  Mr. Di Meola play his unique style of electric guitar once again was a true pleasure.
